The Very Revd Frances Ward (Dean of St Edmundsbury Cathedral) is well known to many in Ely as the daughter of a former Head of the King’s School. In Why Rousseau was Wrong: Christianity and the Secular Soul, Frances takes a critical view of modern secular society. Drawing on both the great writings of The Enlightenment and also contemporary fiction (notably the work of Alexander McCall Smith) she suggests that there is a better dynamic to be achieved through a more collaborative, inclusive and humane (as opposed to Humanist) approach to community.
We look forward to a stimulating evening of debate with one of the foremost theological philosophers of our times.
