Coffee and cake with Pam Ayres
Tuesday 12th November 2013
St Mary's Church, St Mary's Street, Ely, CB7 4HF
11.30am

One of the nation’s favourite poets, broadcasters and entertainers, Pam Ayres will be back in Ely by popular demand, after last year’s hugely enjoyable afternoon. She will be reading from her new book, You Made Me Late Again!, which contains brand new poems together with several firm favourites from her stage shows published here for the first time, along with her delightful illustrations. Pam’s work is beautifully crafted, observant, witty, funny and poignant in equal measure. Using simple verse forms – comic ballads or folk song styles – her subjects are everyday and universal, touching and wistful. From her wry views on Modern Britain, exploding wardrobes, wishing your husband was more dashing, to those intimate and unique aspects of family life (like the dog who’s afraid of the toaster) to becoming a grandmother for the first time or your son leaving home for university, Ayres never fails to strike a chord. We can guarantee that this event will be very convivial, hugely entertaining and uplifting. Come along with your friends, and enjoy tea or coffee with homemade cakes beforehand.
