Join Andrew as he leads you on a guided tour of what’s new and good in the world of Science Fiction and Fantasy. From fresh genre trailblazers, to thoughtful re-examinations of classic tropes, let us help you find your new favourite voice in the realms of spaceships and magic swords.

For our first evening, we’ll be talking about The Unbroken by CL Clark. Grappling with questions of faith and loyalty, while offering a scathing anti-colonial critique, this is one of the sharpest debuts in recent years, and a great place to start with contemporary fantasy writing.

Touraine is a soldier. Stolen as a child and raised to kill and die for the empire, her only loyalty is to her fellow conscripts. But now, her company has been sent back to her homeland to stop a rebellion, and the ties of blood may be stronger than she thought.

Luca needs a turncoat. Someone desperate enough to tiptoe the bayonet's edge between treason and orders. Someone who can sway the rebels toward peace, while Luca focuses on what really matters: getting her uncle off her throne.
