Poetry Reading Group
Monday 29th July

Calling all poetry lovers in Edinburgh – come and join us once a month for our poetry reading group. From Queer and BAME voices, to Native American poets and poetry in translation, our reading group will be an opportunity to explore an eclectic range of poetry.
No need to have read every poem from a collection or every collection from a poet! Come along for a casual conversation, to share interpretations and find meaning together.
This July, join us to discuss the double-winner of poetry's most prestigious prizes, Self-Portrait as Othello. In his latest collection, Jason Allen-Paisant writes himself as Othello, refracts his European travels and considers the Black male body, its presence, transgressiveness and vulnerabilities. Othello's intertwined identities as 'immigrant' and 'Black', which often operate as mutually reinforcing vectors, speak to us in the landscape of twenty-first-century Europe.
We hope you can join us for what promises to be a most fascinating conversation!
