This November, we welcome historian of Scottish Art Professor Elizabeth Cumming and curator Charlotte Lorimer to talk about Charlotte’s great-great-uncle, the artist John Henry Lorimer (1856-1936).
A member of the Royal Scottish Academy, Lorimer trained in Edinburgh and specialized in portraiture and genre scenes. His paintings often investigate the tonal values and effects of light in interiors and capture intimate scenes of Edwardian family life.
This event is in celebration of the upcoming exhibition ‘Reflections: The Light and Life of John Henry Lorimer’ at the City Art Centre. Cumming, the editor of the exhibition book Reflections, and Lorimer, contributor to the book, will discuss the life of the Kellie Castle resident and his enduring work in what promises to be a fantastic evening celebrating one of Scotland’s finest artists.
