Fantasy and Sci-Fi Reading Group

Starting this February, we’ll be kicking off our Fantasy and Science Fiction reading group, exploring worlds both fantastical and horrific, monstrous and utopian. Whether your interests lie in exploring the ruins of a lost civilization, challenging fiends to save the world from ruin or delicately navigating the politics of a corporate interstellar McEmpire™ (Ask about our franchising options and get a free McNuke™!), I do hope you’ll join us on every 3rd Monday of the month.

For our first book of 2023, we'll be reading The Bone Ships by R. J. Barker. Set in a world where the bones of dead dragons are the most precious resource imaginable, essential to transportation and war alike, a ragged band of sailors find themselves caught in a political maelstrom when they are tasked with the escort of a living dragon.

The first living dragon seen in generations, that carries within its bones the potential to swing the wars that have gripped the Hundred Isles and Gaunt Isles for centuries decisively in the favor of any who can capture it. Or cast both nations even deeper into chaos. Surrounded by avaricious eyes and riven by internal conflict alike, the crew of the Tide Child must decide where their loyalties (and interests!) lie.
