Named in honour of Edwin Morgan, poet and translator of the Scottish Renaissance, each year the Edwin Morgan Poetry Award (EMPA) celebrates the talented array of young Scottish poets.
First inaugurated in 2014, each year the EMPA supports the work of over 20 poets, awarding £20,000 to the winning poet, £2,500 for the runners up, and £1000 for each shortlisted poet. Previous prize winners have included the likes of Daisy Lafarge, Alycia Pirmohamed, Claire Askew, and Harry Josephine Giles.
2024 saw Wendelin Law and Harriet French announced the winners of the prize. This February, they will be joined by the array of superb poets who were also shortlisted for an evening of poetry reading and celebration.
Do join us for this fantastic event and opportunity to listen to some of the great up-and-coming poets of Scotland read!
