Food is central to the lives of Vietnamese people, who tend to eat for the love of eating. They don’t just eat to live, they believe life is nothing without the enjoyment of good food.

Highly regarded food writer, photographer and stylist, Uyen Luu is the author of the celebrated cookbooks Vietnamese, Vietnamese Vegetarian and Recipes from my Vietnamese Kitchen. She will be here this evening to mark the publication of her fourth book, Quick & Easy Vietnamese with a cookery demo, talk and tastings.

Quick and Easy Vietnamese shares simple yet delicious recipes that can all be whipped up with minimum fuss. From Pork and Prawn Wontons and Battered Spring Onions, to Lemongrass Minced Pork Vermicelli and Dill Fishcakes, as well as sweet treats such as Sweetcorn Rice Pudding and Tofu Pudding with Ginger Syrup, there is a collection of recipes that are perfect for any time of the week.

This book encourages you to adapt the recipes to what you have to hand. The recipes offer flexibility as substitutions are given, and some ingredients that aren't crucial to the outcome of dish have a range of weights. Uyen Luu is a photographer and writer. She runs a weekly Vietnamese supper club, as well as cooking classes in East London. Uyen grew up and lives in London. This is her fourth book.
