Talk, demo & tastings!

Join us for tastes and storytelling from a cuisine that is distinct, special and diverse. From a Whole Roast Tandoori Chicken Dinner to Onion Bhaji Scotch Eggs and a Neeps and Tatties Keema Pie, Desi Kitchen is an exploration and celebration of the desi communities that make up modern Britain.

Sarah Woods - a second-generation Punjabi - travels from the Pakistani community of Glasgow to the Nepalese community in Kent and everywhere in her debut, Desi Kitchen. This is a unique culinary roadmap to the diaspora of the Indian subcontinent in Britain today, with chapters covering regional Britain and the desi communities that call each one call home.

Here is a glimpse of these wonderful recipes:

Gujarati Hasselback Potato Shaak (for an unusual side dish), Ugandan Chapatti Rolex (a great way to use leftover curry), try Welsh Chilli Rarebit with curry oil and crispy shallots, or delicious Bread and Butter Pudding with honeyed figs.

Sarah Woods first appeared on BBC One’s ‘Britain’s Best Home Cook’ and has since established a thriving desi food business, supper clubs and pop-up restaurants in her home town of Cheshire.

'I've longed for a book like this. A map that locates and explores the culinary heritage of the diaspora of the Indian subcontinent in Britain, how its been maintained and how it's evolving to absorb other influences. A fascinating read with glorious recipes' - DIANA HENRY
