Join us in Bath to celebrate the publication of Long Live Evil with fantasy icons Sarah Rees Brennen and Tasha Suri, author of The Oleander Sword.

Long Live Evil:

A tale for anyone who's ever fallen for the villain...

When her whole life collapsed, Rae still had books. Dying, she seizes a second chance at living - a magical bargain that lets her enter the world of her favourite fantasy series.

She wakes up in a castle on the edge of a hellish chasm, in a kingdom on the brink of war. Home to dangerous monsters, scheming courtiers, and her favourite fictional character: the Once and Forever Emperor. He's impossibly alluring, as only fiction can be. And in this fantasy world, she discovers she's not the heroine but the villainess in the Emperor's tale.

So be it. The wicked are better dressed, with better one-liners, even if they're doomed to bad ends. She assembles the wildly disparate villains of the story under her evil leadership, plotting to change their fate. But as the body count rises and the Emperor's fury increases, it seems Rae and her allies may not survive to see the final page.

Sarah Rees Brennan was born in Ireland by the sea. After world travel and surviving stage 4 cancer, she settled there in the shadow of a 300-year-old library. Writing young adult fiction, she was a Lodestar, Mythopoeic and World Fantasy finalist, Carnegie nominee, and a New York Times bestseller. Long Live Evil is her first adult work.

The Oleander Sword:

The prophecy of the nameless god - the words that declared Malini the rightful empress of Parijatdvipa - has proven a blessing and a curse. She is determined to claim the throne that fate offered her. But even with the strength of the rage in her heart and the army of loyal men by her side, deposing her brother is going to be a brutal and bloody fight.

The power of the deathless waters flows through Priya's blood. Thrice-born priestess and Elder of Ahiranya, Priya's dream is to see her country rid of the rot that plagues it - both Parijatdvipa's poisonous rule and the blooming sickness that is slowly spreading through all living things. But she doesn't yet understand the truth of the magic she carries.

Their chosen paths once pulled them apart. But Malini and Priya's souls remain as entwined as their destinies. And they soon realise that coming together is the only way to save their kingdom from those who would rather see it burn, even if it will cost them.

Tasha Suri is an award-winning author, a writing tutor, an occasional librarian, and a cat owner. Her debut novel, Empire of Sand, was named one of the 100 best fantasy books of all time by TIME magazine. When she isn't writing, Tasha likes to cry over TV shows, buy too many notebooks, and indulge her geeky passion for reading about South Asian history. She lives with her family in a mildly haunted house in London.
