We are delighted to welcome Alistair Moffat, prolific historian and former Rector of the University of St Andrews, back to our town for the release of his beautiful new work, The Hidden Ways. Charting old roads and paths through Scotland, Alistair has created a rich and lyrical account of lost pathways throughout our countryside, and of those who traversed them. Spanning centuries and encompassing main thoroughfares, pilgrimage routes and warpaths, The Hidden Ways is a fascinating voyage into our past through the examination of the journeys of those who preceded us.
Alistair is one of the most recognised faces of Scottish historical writing, and as Former Director of the Edinburgh Fringe, previous Director of Programmes at STV, and Co-Chairman of the Great Tapestry of Scotland, his influence on (and stature within) Scottish culture is undeniable. It is a pleasure to host him in the bookshop and we do hope you will join us as we retrace Scotland’s Hidden Ways.
