Brian May needs no introduction – founding member of Queen, and possibly the only person to have played electric guitar on the roof of Buckingham Palace. Brian has an astonishing number of strings to his bow – not satisfied with the incendiary combination of astrophysics and rock music, Brian is also an expert on stereo photography. As part of a three-strong team of impassioned authors, he now brings us the Diableries – an exquisite and riotous series of visionary 3D dioramas of life in Hell that whipped up a frenzy in 1860s France.
The 180 tableaux are impudent, funny, sad, satirical and seditious, with hidden meanings relating to the conflicts in France in a period of unrest, suffering, and repression. Brian will be joined by his co-authors, Denis Pellerin and Paula Fleming, for this unforgettable illustrated talk. Come and marvel at this little-known phenomenon with a hero of the music world whose humour and sheer inventiveness match his fascinating subject.
